Domo Arigato, Mrs. Roberto.

Domo Arigato, Mrs. Roberto
August 25, 2012

First of all, a big huge THANKS to everyone who helped with the Bridal Shower. It turned out absolutely fantastic. The food was out of this world and the decorations were unbelievably awesome. Those who attended, and had the chance to taste the food, know just how great it was. Check back for a whole post dedicated to just recipes from the shower. Again, thanks everyone for coming out and sharing such a special evening with Andi. It really was one she will never forget!
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE AT THE WEDDING!!!

Trying to keep a shower a surprise from Andi is like trying to hide a buffalo in your house.
 IMPOSSIBLE.

If you have ever cooked any kind of Asian cuisine, you know just how hard it is to hide the delicious aroma. Now imagine every Asian sauce and spice known to mankind being mixed together and simmered for hours and trying to nonchalantly cover our tracks with multiple scents of Yankee Candles burning throughout the house. And we had to do all the cooking and decoration making while Andi was away at Teacher Orientation. Why did we have to take such measures?! Because Andi is the nosiest human being ever in the history of the world!!

If you hadn't sorted out the theme based on the previous "April Showers" post, it was an Oriental themed shower. Tables, draped in silver and black, were decorated with ornate cherry blossom branches and candle votives.

Chinese lanterns were suspended from the ceiling to help complete the look, with all the accessories in black, red and silver. We chose this theme because Andi loves Asian Cuisine and sushi. If she could live primarily on sushi and chocolate milk, she would. She's even gotten Bobby to step outside his comfort zone and dabble in the art of sushi.

Traditionally, the Bride is given a decorative cake made from towels. However, since we are far from ordinary, Jill (mother) and Lindsey (sister), created a one of a kind Sushi Tray made from kitchen linens and gadgets. David fashioned a pair of over-sized chopsticks which Lindsey then hand painted with the symbols for Love and Eternity.

Getting all the food together was a piece of cake compare to getting all the Brides Maids together the day of the shower. Andi truly wanted all of the Bridal Party in attendence, but sadly Kaitlin was playing "cowgirl" out in the Wild, Wild West all summer and couldn't make it home in time. We missed you Tomo. Can't wait to see you at the wedding... in a dress AND HEELS!!

In order to be "fashionably late" Jen set her car on fire!!!

All in all, it turned out to be a very fun filled evening. Andi received many lovely gifts. She's looking forward to spending a long weekend down at Chincoteague, Virginia (the horse beach) with all her girlfriends for the bachelorette shindig. What happens in Chincoteague, stays in Chincoteague... unfortunately we won't be able to blog about it.

Super excited for this card?!

A plunger for all Bobby's poops.

Andi's gorgeous hat.

Andi with a mouthful of gum due to her bad answers to the relationship game.

It's not all about you, ANDI.
